Do not
confuse kenpo for kempo, the later spelled with a m is referring to
Japanese or Okinawa based arts.
Whether
you call it Chinese kenpo, American kenpo, Tracys kenpo, or just plain old kenpo
we are talking about nearly the same system, or at least systems with the same
roots. Even though many who practice kenpo or have practiced Tracys kenpo they
will usually refer to their art as Chinese Kenpo. Tracys Kenpo and many other
off shoots of kenpo can trace their systems roots back to Chinese kung fu, but
the hard work of Ed Parker, and his innovations pathways for all modern kenpo
systems.
Ed
Parkers mix of William K.S. Chows Hun Gar, James Mitoses Kempo (with a m), and
a lot of inovations, is the start of many American martial arts systems. From
Bruce Lee to Al Tracy many have been influenced by, or practiced with Ed
Parker.
Here are
some of the styles of kenpo:
Black
Tiger Kenpo
